NO SMOKING (2007): A metaphor to Indian Censor Board.

The year was 2007, that’s when Anurag Kashyap released ‘No Smoking’, a surrealistic neo-noir psychological thriller based on Stephen King’s short story named ‘Quitters Inc.’
While it received appreciation overseas, neither critics nor audiences in India liked the movie as many of them didn’t understood it.

This movie is related to Anurag Kashyap’s life as his previous movies like ‘Black Friday’ and ‘Paanch’ got banned by Indian Censor Board. This movie is not about anti smoking but it’s mainly about the freedom.

REASONS TO WATCH THIS PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER :

1: DISTRACTIONS :

This movie is quite confusing and requires good observation skills to understand it properly.

Differentiate between what is real and what is not, a very well made and directed by Anurag Kashyap.

2: JOHN ABRAHAM & PARESH RAWAL

John Abraham who plays ‘K’ is a chain-smoker visits rehabilitation center runned by Paresh Rawal and then the story begins.

Great acting performances by both Paresh Rawal and John Abraham.

3: THE CLIMAX :

The climax of the movie is non understandable, you don’t have any idea what does it actually means.

This movie can be considered as Best Indian psychological thriller till the date and it was ahead of it’s release time.

The movie was released in 2007 and Christopher Nolan’s Inception was released in 2010. So watch the movie and find out the difference between ‘No Smoking’ and ‘Inception’.
